Dear candidate of gaudi competition,

I’m glad to let you know that the competition is a real success. We received 211 projects from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Tchek Republic. Projects of a high level quality.

The members of the first jury round met yesterday, Tuesday the 23rd of October 2007, in la Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine in Paris were

          Jana Revedin, architect phd, Venice, commissary of the competition

          Francis Rambert, director of Institut français d’architecture, Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, Paris

          Finn Geipel, architect phd, TU Berlin

          Christophe Pourtois, director of CIVA, Centre International pour la Ville et l’Architecture, Brussels

          Oliver Elser, curator of the DAM, Deutsches Arkitekturmuseum, Frankfurt

      –     Hervé Jobbé-Duval, director of Maîtrises d’Ouvrage et Associés

      –     Yves Nacher, Director of architecture department, Culturesfrance

 The jury examined the projects one by one in order to select the 10 award winners.

I am sincerely delighted to inform you that your project caught the attention of the jury and as been selected as one of the 10 award winners.

gaudi competition – 10 AWARD WINNERS SCHEDULE

Ø       Soon You will be contacted by one of the managers of the gaudi programme to discuss how to improve your project

Ø       WORKSHOP 1: from 3rd to 7th of December 2007

You are invited – with all the members of your candidate team – for a workshop

Theme: Development, improvement and feasibility of the 10 projects

in Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture of Grenoble, France.

Ø       On the 7th of December, at the end of the workshop

 Your project, as the other 9 award winner projects, will be presented to the second jury round that will take place in Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture of Grenoble. This jury will select 3 final award winners.

Ø       WORKSHOP 2: from the 25th to 29th of February

You are invited – with all the members of your candidate team – for a workshop

Theme: Production of the 10 projects as models 1:5

in Grands Ateliers de l’Isle D’Abeau, Villefontaine (near Grenoble), France

Ø       May-June 2008: PREVIEW EXHIBITION OF YOUR PROJECT AND MODEL, in the Biennale de l’ Habitat durable of Grenoble (Biennale of Sustainable housing), France

Ø       WORKSHOP 3: 23rd of June to 11th July 2008 (if the second jury round has selected your project as the final 3 award winners)

You are invited – with all the members of your candidate team – for a workshop

Theme: Production of the final 3 award winners as prototypes 1:1 in Grands Ateliers de l’Isle D’Abeau, Villefontaine (near Grenoble), France

 Ø       EXHIBITION BIENNALE VENICE ’08 of the 10 models and of the 3 prototypes (the exhibition will then “itinerate” through Europe)

For the workshops, housing is taken in charge by the city of Grenoble and your transport to France (round trip) by La Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine
